Mixed Martial Art | New Moon in Gemini | June 2019

June’s New Moon in Gemini (Decan II) aligned with the 9 of Swords serves up an invitation to get in the right frame of mind and clear up any cluttered (dangerous) thought patterns that lead to suffering in one way or another. A positive mental shift is on tap when we bring awareness to the inner-workings of our psyche and take action to get more emotionally secure with the way things are and what we have the power to change. We can release guilt, shame and feel more alive with this one, when we pay attention to where our head’s at.

This NEW MOON’s Soundtrack: Cruel Summer (Cobra Kai version) by Kari Kimmel [Music Video]

The Challenge: insomnia, restlessness, self-punishment, convinced to jump to dark/negative conclusions, hopeless assumptions, trouble seeing a way through the darkness or even a glimmer of light, panic attacks/anxiety, loneliness and isolation, overwhelming guilt

The Breakthrough/Potential Wisdom: forgiveness of self and others, emotional healing, establishing new empowering thought patterns, invigorated connection to intuition, renewed self-compassion/healthy sense of identity

This New Moon sets us up for a provocative Eclipse season, as the next New Moon will be a Total Solar Eclipse in Cancer. The energy is intensifying. Change is getting more and more real + deep with Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn. Everything is up for grabs as we literally reshape and redefine our reality from the inside-out. All while Jupiter and Neptune make it tough to tell the Truth from fantasy or bold-faced lies.

Now is the time to wake up to our own thought patterns (and impulsive actions) that lead nowhere good…

It’s like we must think it through to the most reasonable outcome… all the way through to the end…. see where the kinds of things we’re engaging in are actually heading —- without denying reality and consequences

The energy humming in the background all year is most definitely complicated. But this is a NEW Moon, which means it’s a time for new energy and intentions. This one is a bit of a mind-bender as it is aligned with a #9 (the 9 of Swords) which is a harvest and culmination, but also a time of emergence and new intentions.

You could think of this (—- and there will be a lot of thinking with this one) as a time to clear out the clutter in our minds. It’s like we need to get our head straight before we embark on a journey and enter the shadows that lie ahead of us. I find it fascinating that we’ve had several moon phases aligned with Tarot cards that show us how/where we lose ourselves and our connection to a Higher Power. These moonbeams exhaust the vibes brought to light with the last Full Moon in Scorpio; total debauchery. That was emotional darkness. Now we face cruelty… with the swords. The immense suffering that our minds can create. This is an opportunity to get control of our thought patterns that have gone seriously sideways and return to hope, forgiveness and heart. Mars in Cancer with the North Node of the Moon can help us out with this. It’s like plugging our mind into what our heart knows and taking a moment to press “Sync”.

Martial Art

The 2nd decan of Gemini is ruled by Mars and this Tarot card (9 of Swords) embodies the influence of Mars in Gemini. While there’s a lot going on in the cosmos now, the only astrological aspect the Sun and Moon make is a semi-sextile to Mars. So these “planetary energies attract each other, require effort, allow entry of new information”.

By getting curious, stopping to become more introspective, we can tune into what our initial responses are to feelings of not being safe. We can learn more about ourselves and even something new about what makes us tick… and it may not be what we first assume we know about our Self. We’re nudged to tune the channel of our mind to the channel where our hearts sings. And also where we are drawn to the familiar, safe and seemingly (but perhaps not really) secure.

It could be something familiar, from the past, perhaps early childhood. It could have distorted drives due to past trauma, that lingers and is most familiar to us. Like the girl who always ends up falling for the guy who beats her and treats her like absolute garbage. No, it’s not the outcome she wants BUT it is what she has come to expect from life, so it is familiar. And in an odd way, that makes it seem safer than going out with the “nice guy” (the unfamiliar).

I see this lovely support from Mars in Cancer helping us to become more competent when it comes to trusting our intuition, our most natural instincts toward empathy and even our first impressions (emotional data). First we must listen, and get good at listening to those subtler signals and then acting on them more quickly. We can become more competent and confident in being who we are.

... it’s competence that makes people as safe as they can truly be.
— Dr. Jordan B. Peterson

We can shift self-cruelty into self-compassion… that will in turn attract more compassion from others into our lives. It’s always a dance with The Lovers, the sign of the dynamic duo, Gemini.

Lovers and Haters

We can start to see how cruel we’ve been to ourselves. And even how that has been projected or pushed onto others. Or where we’re holding onto victim-hood, as a result of being on the receiving end of cruelty — either personally, through experience or perceived, as social injustice that one can never reasonably conquer alone.

With the twinning sign, the sign of The Lovers, we see duality. There are two sides to every story, but that’s not usually what we tell ourselves.

We, humans, are complex and complicated. We mix, match and exchange energies… and most often the inner (subconscious) drives don’t match our conscious (higher) desires.

The trick is to notice what’s playing on the “other” channel (whether that is within us, or seeing more deeply into another person), and not let it ruin us. {RUIN, the 10 of Swords, is what naturally follows this 9 of Swords energy.} We get to choose if we will be a lover or a hater, regardless of what happens.

We are now reminded of the incredible power our minds have. We can torment ourselves by replaying endless loops of what we did or did not do or say, sending us spinning out of control into shame, guilt and full-blown self-hatred/punishment. And with the 9 vibration — the energy materializes. We reap what we sow, and within the realm of Twin Flames, others reflect back to us what’s going on inside. It’s nearly over with the 9 of Swords. The point when we think it’s useless, pointless, hopeless… But we can now catch ourselves before we fall head over heels into that rabbit hole.

We can remember that Love exists, too, and we have the power to shift our focus (which is very important with the overall energy of this year) to what is good, and true, and based in Love. We can honor our differences and open up our minds to more optimistic and productive thoughts, connection and communication. The kind that alleviates suffering, even in the smallest way, instead of perpetuating it.

That’s why this New Moon is such a blessing, even if it is disguised by the scary face of the card.

You’re Not The Only One

Under this influence, our minds can deceive us into thinking we, alone, are responsible for the suffering we see or experience. We may take on the heavy responsibility (guilt) that weighs our mind down to the point where it begins to show up as dysfunction (of all kinds - health, relationships, finances) in our reality. With the 9 of Swords at play, I see this as a near-complete separation from union... or so we think.

Gemini (The Lovers of the Tarot) is the vibration of connecting with others in our immediate environment. The people we are drawn to, attracted to (romantically or friendly) and how we name (organize in our minds) that connection. Cruelty exhausts that connection… pushes us to the edge where connection appears to be lost. Every sword, dripping with blood, points in one direction.

Now is the time to realize that you are not the only one. Not the only one responsible, Not the only one suffering. And not solely responsible for all the suffering you see or feel. It’s safe for you to lighten up and play and love freely. No one is immune to suffering in life.

We can become more brave through our vulnerability and willingness to connect with another just as we are. We don’t need to buy into a one-sided narrative, whether that’s generated by the media, another person or our own mind.

This New Moon, as dark as this subject matter seems, is a beautiful opening and invitation to emerge out of the suffering and tell yourself a new story, and let your heart have a say in it.

A Whole New World | New Moon in Pisces | March 2019

New Moon MARCH.png

With this New Moon in Pisces (Decan II) aligned with the 9 of Cups, we can feel full to the brim with dreamy, flow-y good vibes. It can be fairy-tale-like and yet, at the same time, we can realize something’s missing or not quite measuring up to the perfection we know is possible. With Mercury stationing retrograde and Uranus crashing into the sign of Taurus (this time to stay for several years) around the same time, these vibes can make way for emotional instability and surprising events that seem to threaten our happy endings.

This NEW MOON’s Soundtrack: High Hopes by Panic! At The Disco [Music Video]

The Challenge: feelings of loneliness, over-compensating for inner sense of lack or guilt, over-giving, over-indulgence or bingeing, depression, feeling like something’s off, missing or forgotten, self-righteousness, smugness or snark, complacency or lack of willpower, opting for ease above all and resisting responsibility, giving up right before reaching a milestone, settling for good enough, blissful ignorance

The Breakthrough/Potential Wisdom: wish fulfillment or new wishes coming to light, emotional satisfaction, material happiness, in the mood to share and give, connected to infinite Love/willingness to love unconditionally, envisioning new hopes and dreams, on-point law of attraction, synchronicities, deeper connection with true happiness and appreciation through new experiences and celebrations, harmony, beauty, bliss, feeling open to more possibilities, blessings multiplied

Pisces Decan II.png

Just look at those goblets overflowing with goodness in the imagery of this Tarot card, the 9 of Cups! Everything looks beautifully abundant…. But, it’s not yet complete. It’s like scoring a 9 out of 10. It’s really good, but it’s not perfect. We could do better. And we’ve almost made it. - Almost, being the keyword there.

We may experience feelings of being over-joyed in some way, but it gets tainted by feelings of loneliness, guilt or looming sadness… It may feel fleeting and only temporary and we may want to hold on longer. This could be like achieving some goal or getting the opportunity or recognition of a lifetime, but wishing someone special was there to celebrate with you. Or overwhelming guilt when feeling happy, knowing that others are suffering. There’s a nagging realization that realities differ and we only see one fragment at a time… and we want more. We won’t want to feel good when someone else is suffering, and we won’t want to suffer when someone else is having the time of their life. With Pisces, we want it all to be beautiful and perfect.

Always Had a Vision. . .

I didn’t know how, but I always had a feelin’.” - One of the lines that stands out for me from this song I selected as the soundtrack for this New Moon.

Some desires may be unveiled and feel much more possible now. We can simultaneously get the feeling that our visions are closer than ever to becoming a reality, and yet we don’t know how. It’s still confusing… but high hopes are on tap, none the less.

We’ve gotta feel into it with this New Moon, if we want to make the most of it. That means getting into the feelings of what you want, truly. Let that vision sweep over you. It’s entirely possible now to let that feeling fill you up so fully you may wonder if you are flying or drunk on the nectar of Life. But remember the fine details of that vision of yours…

As I mentioned before with this 9 of Cups in the mix, it’s important to consider what might be missing or could potentially ruin the happy ending you envision. Like losing all the weight you wanted to, but only as a result of getting very sick and being unable to eat, or getting that high-paying dream job, but having no time for friends or a social life. What would you not be willing to sacrifice? What really, really, really matters in the end? (That’s where getting into the feelings of the vision really helps!)

Also…. Does it have to be lonely at the top? I don’t believe so. We’ve got support in changing our deeply rooted, even unconscious, perceptions this year. So as you dream those big dreams and envision your own heaven on Earth, take time to reconsider any preconceived notions and underlying beliefs you hold when it comes to your heart’s desires. These sneaky influences, that can lead to our own self-undoing, are worth becoming more aware of now. (Especially when it comes to those things you’ve wanted forever and can’t seem to catch a break. Now’s your chance to breakthrough that shizzle once and for all!) It’s about creating a new normal; a whole new world for ourselves.

Happy is my natural condition.
Life gives me all I need to be happy.

We’re Not in Kansas Anymore.

So many shifts happen all at once alongside this New Moon in Pisces. We could be meeting up against some confusion, ranging from subtle to more serious, and thinking, What now?

Just like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, we could face some bizarre characters and situations. We may not realize how we got here from there. Things don’t quite add up. Now we’re really in it… the realm of the unbelievable and fantastical. It can really take us aback, and make us wonder. We may even be wondering about things we’ve never encountered before in our lives, especially as it relates to sustainability and the Future. On a personal level and on the collective scale.

Chances are pretty good we feel different, but may not be able to find the words or thoughts to make sense of why or exactly how we feel different…. That’s because Mercury is at a stand still on the final degree of Pisces (and the zodiac), stationing retrograde. We may feel compelled to move forward, but feel like we’ve forgotten something very important, which ignites feelings of anxiety, urgency or desperation.

On some level, we know we must trust and have faith, perhaps like we never have before. Remember, in the Wizard of Oz, it wasn’t the yellow brick road that led Dorothy to the Truth. It was her ruby red slippers that made the magic happen. What she already had, and simply hadn’t recognized the power of before, that led her back home.

You had the power all along, my dear.

Make a Wish!

The 9 of Cups is known by adept Tarot readers as the “wish card”. Our wishes are extra blessed with this New Moon!

While there are certainly some shaky vibes with this one overall, that in no way diminishes the fact that this is the time for renewed hope, a boost of faith and wishes granted. In it’s purest, most magical form, like a child innocently wishing upon a star…. Dreams do come true under this New Moon influence.

If anything —- anything at all — was possible, what would you wish for?

Go big. Let your imagination play. Open up to blessings and miraculous turnarounds.

Remember to include what you’ve identified as missing from the bigger picture and what you ultimately want to feel when you’re wishing. That’s more important than the logistics now.

[And if you are one (like me) to freely wish for blessings and all things good for others, but have a tendency to forget to include yourself —-don’t forget yourself this time. Ok?]

The concept of wishing upon a star is particularly relevant now. To wish upon a star is symbolic, in that we aim high for something beyond us and in the unknown reaches of space. It’s like trusting in a Higher Power. And it’s common practice to not feel pressure to figure out the how. We simply wish and let it go. It’s not our job to make the wish come true. That part is out of our hands.

Be a believer now. Even if it’s just for a moment. This is, after all, a whole new world. And together, we get to create the experience we have in it.

Getting Ahead of Ourselves | New Moon in Aquarius | February 2019

New Moon FEB.png

With this New Moon in Aquarius (Decan II) aligned with the Prince of Swords and the 6 of Swords, we can get ahead of ourselves in good ways and bad. It can be airy-fairy and totally impractical, scattered-brain & neurotic. Or on the flip-side, these vibes can make way for highly innovative solutions to common problems and the unleashing of our individual creative genius.

This NEW MOON’s Soundtrack: Ahead of Myself by X Ambassadors [Music Video]

The Challenge: Racing thoughts, prone to anxiety, conviction without substance, quick to react without considering needs of others or the whole picture, so future-minded that presence is lost, baseless ideology/refusing to see the facts of reality, resistance of material world and physical matters, forgetting to take care of what is essential and most basic, racing thoughts, lack of follow-through on ideas, difficulty organizing thoughts/ideas enough to take proper action, lack of productivity, prone to distraction or excessive daydreaming that result in time-suck

The Breakthrough/Potential Wisdom: release limiting beliefs, highly-creative thought seeds, stepping into your unique flavor of genius, owning what makes you stand out, synchronistic events/miracles, cultivate new disciplined approach/scientific experimentation that leads to breakthroughs, connection to higher heart/higher mind/akashic records, freedom from self-fulfilling prophecy-like behavior that has resulted in a rut, break-free from unhealthy repetitive patterns, ability to understand deeper self and structure of consciousness inn self and humanity at large, alignment with greater purpose ( Soul mission) in a way that can be understood by the intellect

Here Come the Trolls

These New Moon vibes are ripe for internet trolls, especially those who are pushing an ideology with relentless passion. This zone of the zodiac is quite disconnected from reality, which can result in dehumanizing rhetoric and lotsa talk of ideas and pie-in-the-sky theories. Beware of circular logic traps and those who just want to play mind-games. It’s possible to encounter people who only seek to prove themselves right and are closed off to anything outside of their own heads. It’s a great time to disconnect in healthy ways — for the sake of our own sanity!

Unplugging is favored. Maybe even a digital detox is in order… to help you get grounded in the here and now.

Ignore the trolls. Disengage from any conversation that quickly goes nowhere or leaves you feeling ostracized in any way. Good rules of thumb any day of the week, but especially now… because you may catch yourself getting sucked into fruitless debates. If you do, that’s a wonderful opportunity to identify any of your own ideas or beliefs that you cling to without taking the time to consider anything outside of that realm, and loosen your grip. It can really open our minds and liberate us from our own cages of thinking, when we are willing.

Brainstorm

Your mind is likely to be full of ideas that can pop into your head like a bolt of lightning and just as quickly disappear into thin air. This is a doubly airy zone of the cosmos, so capture what you can before it vanishes.

Genius ideas may come to you that can truly serve to better your life, or even impact the world at large.. So jot that shizz down! Keep a notepad handy or a note-taking app on your phone readily accessible.

If you’re in desperate need for solutions to a problem in your life, make time for a brainstorm session. Write down everything that comes to you. There could definitely be some gold in there, when you sift through your ideas and really see what happens when your mind is let loose. You may surprise yourself!

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
— Albert Einstein

Weird Science

Aquarius is the sign of the inventor, the scientist, the genius and the revolutionary. From the perspective of The 6 of Swords [Science], these archetypes are emphasized. This is the time to strike a balance between your out-of-the-box ideas and practical application. Come up with a theory for whatever’s perplexing you and get ready to experiment.

We can experience (or essentially, induce) a breakthrough when we are willing to try a different way, just to see what happens. The trick is to remain detached and — even if the issue may be deeply personal — come at it as though you were a scientist.

Be willing to try and fail. Create a hypothesis. Test your own theories.

Sometimes we get so caught up in our way of doing things, we never stop to consider any radical ideas that come to mind, dismissing them without ever seeing what could happen.

>> May be another fun New Moon Intention setting strategy to try! <<

A while ago I experimented with how I spend my money. I had this realization that I was spending money on my boys easily and all the time… but when it came to buying something for myself, I hesitated or put it off, even when it came to things I really needed. I had all this Mommy-guilt and anxiety around spending money on myself.

So, I did an experiment. I started making it a priority to buy for myself. And not only necessities, but also little indulgences here and there, like fresh flowers from my favorite Farmer’s Market when I was buying groceries for the family. It was different than my normal at the time, and it felt like a stretch. I was aiming at simply having less anxiety around spending money on things I, personally, needed.

What I discovered was my income increased when I did this. I somehow made more money when I was willing to spend money on myself. It was seriously strange — an outcome I hadn’t expected!

We’re supported in experimenting, exploring and pioneering a new way forward right now, especially when it comes to things we feel limited by or have been too afraid to face before.

Mercury’s ability to analyze brings clarity to perspectives on the Future. The perceptions are not only seen and recognized, but can also be effectively communicated now.

So if you’re going to get ahead of yourself, do it in the best possible way! Take radical responsibility for your Future. Tinker with new ways of doing things or put your inner-genius to work on your most pressing concerns right now.
