Mixed Martial Art | New Moon in Gemini | June 2019

June’s New Moon in Gemini (Decan II) aligned with the 9 of Swords serves up an invitation to get in the right frame of mind and clear up any cluttered (dangerous) thought patterns that lead to suffering in one way or another. A positive mental shift is on tap when we bring awareness to the inner-workings of our psyche and take action to get more emotionally secure with the way things are and what we have the power to change. We can release guilt, shame and feel more alive with this one, when we pay attention to where our head’s at.

The Challenge: insomnia, restlessness, self-punishment, convinced to jump to dark/negative conclusions, hopeless assumptions, trouble seeing a way through the darkness or even a glimmer of light, panic attacks/anxiety, loneliness and isolation, overwhelming guilt

The Breakthrough/Potential Wisdom: forgiveness of self and others, emotional healing, establishing new empowering thought patterns, invigorated connection to intuition, renewed self-compassion/healthy sense of identity

Gemini Decan II.png

This New Moon sets us up for a provocative Eclipse season, as the next New Moon will be a Total Solar Eclipse in Cancer. The energy is intensifying. Change is getting more and more real + deep with Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn. Everything is up for grabs as we literally reshape and redefine our reality from the inside-out. All while Jupiter and Neptune make it tough to tell the Truth from fantasy or bold-faced lies.

Now is the time to wake up to our own thought patterns (and impulsive actions) that lead nowhere good…

It’s like we must think it through to the most reasonable outcome… all the way through to the end…. see where the kinds of things we’re engaging in are actually heading —- without denying reality and consequences

The energy humming in the background all year is most definitely complicated. But this is a NEW Moon, which means it’s a time for new energy and intentions. This one is a bit of a mind-bender as it is aligned with a #9 (the 9 of Swords) which is a harvest and culmination, but also a time of emergence and new intentions.

You could think of this (—- and there will be a lot of thinking with this one) as a time to clear out the clutter in our minds. It’s like we need to get our head straight before we embark on a journey and enter the shadows that lie ahead of us. I find it fascinating that we’ve had several moon phases aligned with Tarot cards that show us how/where we lose ourselves and our connection to a Higher Power. These moonbeams exhaust the vibes brought to light with the last Full Moon in Scorpio; total debauchery. That was emotional darkness. Now we face cruelty… with the swords. The immense suffering that our minds can create. This is an opportunity to get control of our thought patterns that have gone seriously sideways and return to hope, forgiveness and heart. Mars in Cancer with the North Node of the Moon can help us out with this. It’s like plugging our mind into what our heart knows and taking a moment to press “Sync”.

Martial Art

The 2nd decan of Gemini is ruled by Mars and this Tarot card (9 of Swords) embodies the influence of Mars in Gemini. While there’s a lot going on in the cosmos now, the only astrological aspect the Sun and Moon make is a semi-sextile to Mars. So these “planetary energies attract each other, require effort, allow entry of new information”.

By getting curious, stopping to become more introspective, we can tune into what our initial responses are to feelings of not being safe. We can learn more about ourselves and even something new about what makes us tick… and it may not be what we first assume we know about our Self. We’re nudged to tune the channel of our mind to the channel where our hearts sings. And also where we are drawn to the familiar, safe and seemingly (but perhaps not really) secure.

It could be something familiar, from the past, perhaps early childhood. It could have distorted drives due to past trauma, that lingers and is most familiar to us. Like the girl who always ends up falling for the guy who beats her and treats her like absolute garbage. No, it’s not the outcome she wants BUT it is what she has come to expect from life, so it is familiar. And in an odd way, that makes it seem safer than going out with the “nice guy” (the unfamiliar).

I see this lovely support from Mars in Cancer helping us to become more competent when it comes to trusting our intuition, our most natural instincts toward empathy and even our first impressions (emotional data). First we must listen, and get good at listening to those subtler signals and then acting on them more quickly. We can become more competent and confident in being who we are.

... it’s competence that makes people as safe as they can truly be.
— Dr. Jordan B. Peterson

We can shift self-cruelty into self-compassion… that will in turn attract more compassion from others into our lives. It’s always a dance with The Lovers, the sign of the dynamic duo, Gemini.

Lovers and Haters

We can start to see how cruel we’ve been to ourselves. And even how that has been projected or pushed onto others. Or where we’re holding onto victim-hood, as a result of being on the receiving end of cruelty — either personally, through experience or perceived, as social injustice that one can never reasonably conquer alone.

With the twinning sign, the sign of The Lovers, we see duality. There are two sides to every story, but that’s not usually what we tell ourselves.

We, humans, are complex and complicated. We mix, match and exchange energies… and most often the inner (subconscious) drives don’t match our conscious (higher) desires.

The trick is to notice what’s playing on the “other” channel (whether that is within us, or seeing more deeply into another person), and not let it ruin us. {RUIN, the 10 of Swords, is what naturally follows this 9 of Swords energy.} We get to choose if we will be a lover or a hater, regardless of what happens.

We are now reminded of the incredible power our minds have. We can torment ourselves by replaying endless loops of what we did or did not do or say, sending us spinning out of control into shame, guilt and full-blown self-hatred/punishment. And with the 9 vibration — the energy materializes. We reap what we sow, and within the realm of Twin Flames, others reflect back to us what’s going on inside. It’s nearly over with the 9 of Swords. The point when we think it’s useless, pointless, hopeless… But we can now catch ourselves before we fall head over heels into that rabbit hole.

We can remember that Love exists, too, and we have the power to shift our focus (which is very important with the overall energy of this year) to what is good, and true, and based in Love. We can honor our differences and open up our minds to more optimistic and productive thoughts, connection and communication. The kind that alleviates suffering, even in the smallest way, instead of perpetuating it.

That’s why this New Moon is such a blessing, even if it is disguised by the scary face of the card.

You’re Not The Only One

Under this influence, our minds can deceive us into thinking we, alone, are responsible for the suffering we see or experience. We may take on the heavy responsibility (guilt) that weighs our mind down to the point where it begins to show up as dysfunction (of all kinds - health, relationships, finances) in our reality. With the 9 of Swords at play, I see this as a near-complete separation from union... or so we think.

Gemini (The Lovers of the Tarot) is the vibration of connecting with others in our immediate environment. The people we are drawn to, attracted to (romantically or friendly) and how we name (organize in our minds) that connection. Cruelty exhausts that connection… pushes us to the edge where connection appears to be lost. Every sword, dripping with blood, points in one direction.

Now is the time to realize that you are not the only one. Not the only one responsible, Not the only one suffering. And not solely responsible for all the suffering you see or feel. It’s safe for you to lighten up and play and love freely. No one is immune to suffering in life.

We can become more brave through our vulnerability and willingness to connect with another just as we are. We don’t need to buy into a one-sided narrative, whether that’s generated by the media, another person or our own mind.

This New Moon, as dark as this subject matter seems, is a beautiful opening and invitation to emerge out of the suffering and tell yourself a new story, and let your heart have a say in it.

Seeds of Success | New Moon in Taurus | May 2019

New Moon MAY (1).png

With this New Moon in Taurus (Decan II) aligned with the 6 of Disks acts as an invitation to tune right in and sow the seeds of our success. But, we feel a bit unsteady, perhaps too keenly aware that we may not have our feet on solid ground yet. Uranus is in the Moon’s happiest place in the zodiac, adding this element of unsettling and instability to the mix. Never the less, these dark skies open up a beautiful time for sensual connection with nature — literally planting seeds for flowers (beauty) and food (sustenance) — and offers up a magic-making elixir from Neptune with spiritual wavelengths harmonizing with the Sun and Moon now.

The Challenge: avoidance or laziness, procrastination, feelings of insecurity, unworthiness or entitlement, fear of failure or not having what it takes to reach goals and dreams, holding on to complicated issues or ignoring simple solutions

The Breakthrough/Potential Wisdom: kindness, charity and philanthropy, healthy balance of giving and receiving, awakening to greater feelings of self-worth and self-reliance, feeling in communion with nature and the divine, external manifestation of inner desires and needs fulfilled feels highly likely, feeling the promise of luck and success

Taurus Decan II.png

The 6 of Disks is the visual + symbolic representation of a New Moon in Taurus. Sacred geometry bursts into blooming radiance in this image, evoking our intrinsic nature to connect, create and commune. This harmonious pattern is the way we do this most efficiently. We are shown what is pleasing to the eye and to the bank account.

The Sacred Hexagon

With Taurus as the sign of pleasure, abundance, self-reliance and sustainability — it makes perfect sense that the sacred hexagonal shape adorns this Tarot card aligned with the second decan of Taurus, where this New Moon occurs.

Encoded in nature, this shape is everywhere, although the first that comes to mind is usually the bee’s honeycomb. It’s the most efficient way of creating and storing, as it requires the least amount of effort with the most bang for your buck! No space is wasted and less energy is used in the process of making it. This concept is high vibe Taurus energy at play, as it can lean toward laziness in favor of saving precious energy and resources. Sweet Taurus wants to have the cake and eat it, too. The hexagon shape gives Taurus everything she wants!

The Recipe For Success

If you look closely at the image on the Crowley Thoth Tarot Card above, you’ll notice each of the 6 disks is stamped with a planetary symbol. (The astrological correspondence is one of the reason I love this deck!) These planetary symbols hold the keys to our success! Tuning into the planetary wisdom of the 6 of Disks is like following a recipe. Every disk is perfectly situated at a 120 degree angle, in perfect harmony with the others, in order to form the sacred hexagon. So, easy does it. Equal measures of each ingredient create the finest and decadent results.

Saturn

[Currently Rx in Capricorn, with Pluto and the South Node of the Moon, squaring Venus]

Proceed with caution, taking into account the consequences of our actions/failures to act. Saturn can be a stern guide, always reminding us that we live in a physical world with limitations and rules. That’s why it’s so important to live with integrity, honor and respect. We must manage our time, as mortal beings, wisely, if we are to create something meaningful that will stand the test of time. Considering the highest benefit for one’s self and for all involved and doing the hard work necessary to achieve that end, is one of Saturn’s greatest avenues toward being a G.O.A.T.

Jupiter

[Currently Rx in Sagittarius, opposing Mars]

Be open and willing to take a risk once in a while! Jupiter takes us on a journey, so we can experience life more fully and gain new perspective and wisdom. Always encouraging us to expand, we gain treasured wisdom. Life is an adventure, full of ups and downs, and Jupiter helps us stay afloat with chance encounters with guides, teachers and even Angels, who reconnect us to our Divinity and Natural Law on our quest for more. Stay open to new and unexpected developments.

Venus

[Currently in Aries, squaring Saturn]

There must be an emotional connection, a deep desire to achieve success. It must personal to us, and that’s where Venus comes in. We are willing to give and open to receive. We value our connections with people and know we can’t do it alone. The power of love fuels our drive for success, and enables us to truly enjoy it (and share it!) when we have accomplished what we set out to do.

The Moon

[Currently synced with the Sun at her New Moon phase in Taurus, sextiling Neptune in Pisces]

Intuitive guidance flows from deep within us. The Moon shows us we don’t always have to be ON. We cycle like the Moon. There times when we need more rest, and solitude. Times when we express ourselves full-out and truly shine. The Moon gently reminds us to sync with our own natural rhythms, and listen to our Soul.

Mercury

[Currently in Aries, trining Jupiter]

The trick is to avoid distraction, so we can effectively communicate our brilliant ideas. Mercury keeps everything in motion. We must be light on our feet, flexible and willing to creatively maneuver in this world of time and space. The daily routines we operate on, the words we use to clarify our intention and the alignment with our authentic self are all vital parts along our path toward true success.

Mars

[Currently in Gemini, opposing Jupiter]

Go get it! Mars activates our willpower and drive for success. Not a fan of losing, Mars ignites the flame within us that inspires us into action toward a goal and doesn’t easily back down or shy away from a challenge. It helps us get started, and helps us get back up when we fall down. Our instincts and impulses can light the way forward. Knowing we have the energy to get there means victory is within our grasp already.

Every ingredient in this “cosmic recipe” is vital to our sweet success. I’ll be Live on Facebook on Friday, May 4th, to share more about how we can work with this energy of the 6 of Disks! Tune in or catch the replay if you can’t make it live, HERE.

120 Degrees

Now, back to the sacred hexagon and a sneak peek at the Future. . .

The hexagon takes shape under immense pressure that incites a 120 degree angle that creates it’s interior angles, bringing it into formation. Interestingly enough, there’s one on the north pole of Saturn. And get this! — The day after this New Moon, the Moon in Taurus will connect with Saturn in Capricorn to make a perfect 120 degree angle. The Sun will follow suit, making this connection to Saturn about 10 days later.

Known as a “trine” in astrology speak, this is the most harmonious of all aspects. In general, it’s the aspect that indicates things coming easily to you, where others may view you as especially lucky. [More about the Moon Trine Saturn aspect.]

So, while I know we’ve been under enormous pressure as we navigate the wild changes in our personal lives and in the world at large, we are supremely connected to the Divine Harmony of Life. There’s a divine design at play, and this New Moon blesses us with a new twist - we get more of what we want when we tune in and sync with this natural rhythm encoded within us.
