A New Moon happens every month. This is the part of the cycle when the Moon aligns with the Sun. It's a great time for us to set new intentions, plant new seeds (literally or metaphorically) and tune into our intuition and other senses since this is the darkest time of the month. Normally, it's like clicking refresh.
With a Solar Eclipse, it's more like a system reboot or new update. Things may temporarily shut down in order to install new features, programs, performance enhancements or, you know... general bug fixes. When we're back online, whether we realized we were ever off-line or not, things are different in some way. We may interact differently with the interface, not know where to find what once was there or even feel like we've entered a whole new world and feel a bit lost at first.
It can take a while to integrate the changes that occur in our lives with Eclipses. But don't forget, they serve to make things better, ultimately-- not worse. Even if it's discombobulating at first.
Today's world is dramatically different than the one our parents grew up in. This is a time of great change, and there's more radical change to come. With this Solar Eclipse in Cancer, we get an invitation to ground ourselves... Emotionally. As in, get real with ourselves about what we need to feel safe in order to move forward.
Because the truth is, unconsciously, we will hold ourselves back until we feel safe enough to step out of our comfort zone. It's instinctual. We must cultivate some emotional security & feel we are taken care of. And, let's face it, that can be difficult to do in a collective environment of uncertainty and fear.
Cancer is a cardinal water sign. Ruled by the Moon Goddess herself. With her influence, we can begin to heal and nurture ourselves. From that calm emotional center, we can provide assistance to others.
This is something I've become keenly aware of in my own personal journey recently. We can't provide true emotional support for others, especially those closest to us, when we are falling apart inside, trying to keep it together on the surface.
I've been reflecting on my pregnancies and noticed how beautifully the role of a pregnant mother brings home the message of this Cancer New Moon Solar Eclipse...
Just as a pregnant woman would feed herself, honor her cravings, do things that help her feel comfortable and healthy... those things are for her as much as they are for the baby. She's aware that she is the vessel that carries the baby and she's responsible for bringing a new child into the world. She can't feed the baby without feeding herself. It doesn't work that way.
So what are you bringing into the world?
And how are you caring for yourself, in order to create it?
If we want to care for those we love, if we want to create a better world, we must begin by nurturing and honoring ourselves first. We must get centered. Tune into our compassion, for ourselves and for others. Connect with our softness and grace. That is where true strength lies. And from that strength, like that of a pregnant woman, is where warriors and change-makers come from.
Thankfully, we've got a lot of cosmic energy to help us bring magic to life, individually and collectively.
